The first telephoto lens of choice, especially recommended for beginners, is the 135mm F2.5 SMC Pentax. This lens has the Pentax K bayonet mount, and requires the K-EOS adapter for attachment to Canon EOS cameras. When the aperture is stopped down to 37mm using step-down filter rings, this lens produces incredibly tiny pinpoint star images fromCanon RF 70-200mm F4 L IS USM Lens. 24.5. (695) 3.3 x 4.7. (83.5 x 119.0) 77. The F2.8 lens has a tripod mount ring, an advantage for rotating a camera mounted on a tripod or monopod, but the F4 lens isn't heavy enough to require such for balance purposes. The F4 lens has a modest maximum magnification advantage (0.28x vs. 0.23x). The one thing that annoys me about 24-70 lenses though, is that 70mm is just not in the sweet spot for a traditional portrait focal length. I just wish lens designers would push a little longer to 24-85mm whilst maintaining f2.8. On that basis, I'd go for the Sony, which at 105mm f4 would give similar equivalence as 85mm at f2.8. Den
The 24-120 is an easy pack one lens and go option. The 28-75 makes prettier portraits with the 2.8, despite being optically inferior. If I had to pick one though, it’s the 24-120. I’d get most of what we need and it’s a wonderful lens at every focal length. *I have the 50mm 1.8 and it is a brilliant lens.
