Extremely slow download speed? [Question] Any idea why guild wars 2 is downloading at 2MB/sec. This is just ridiculous, I have a 40MB/sec connection and the game is getting downloaded at a snail's pace, sometimes the download is stuck and won't proceed. Anyways to solv this issue? I don't think Anet has any plan to fix this anytime soon. Thanks.

In terms of the install there shouldn't be any difference between a normal and trial account. That's just stuff handled by the servers. My .dat (the main GW2 game file) atm is ~16.6GB, don't know how much compression there is during the download though, so you may potentially struggle unfortunately.
thats because there is a difference how steam downloads files and how the gw2 launcher does download files, it downloads every single file one by one, no matter the size there is a request, download and verification which means on very small the time it takes actually to download is faster than the request and verification.
If you want to be sure to have all clean without downloading everything, just delete all except gw264.exe and gw2.dat, when you run it again it will download all the normal files again. Make a copy of your shortcut name it gw2 repair. Rename the dat file so you keep it as backup. Open the shortcut and add -repair to the command line.
It might be because many of GW2 files are really small in size so your download speed seem slow because it doesnt have time to, Idk how to all it, accelerate. File is lets say just 20kb so it downloads this, copy, then download another small file. Sometimes it will jump higher for bigger file. if you are from India a VPN might also help, just
